El Shaddai, the God Who Is More Than Enough
El Shaddai is the God Who is more than enough to be our arm of strength in these days.
No matter who we are, “El Shaddai” is on our side. However, the battle also faces us as a corporate body, especially at this time in the Church’s history—when the evil one will seek to take advantage to discourage, divide, and disperse the children of God during the repaganization of Western Civilization. But God Almighty,... Continue Reading
What is the Biblical Significance of the Number “Six”?
Man in God’s image is a creature of both 6 and 7; the number six without the number seven becomes the symbol of man’s rebellion.
God created man in his image and gave him dominion over the creatures (Gen 1:26–28). Although God made man on the same day as the other creatures, man is clearly higher than the animals. Part of man’s call is to set aside the seventh day. To worship and have an intimate relationship with God is... Continue Reading
A New Testament Scholar Explains What Should Be the Two Key Voting Concerns for Christians
How do Christians determine what are the most important matters when voting for or against a political candidate? We have to start “in the beginning.”
Summary: The two most consequential acts of God at creation were the valuing of human life as the only creatures made in God’s image and the integrating of that image-bearing into the creation of male and female sexual counterparts. Since these two creation acts are most consequential in the eyes of God, policies adversely affecting... Continue Reading
Romans 13:1-5 and the Gospel
We do not always agree when obedience to man constitutes disobedience to God. We can fine-tune our deliberations with a look at why God gave rulers authority.
We can’t disobey rulers without disobeying God except when we must obey God rather than man (cf. Acts 5:29). Rulers, however, often walk contrary to the very reasons God gave them authority, punishing the righteous and rewarding the wicked. No surprises there, for Paul’s Gospel explication includes rulers when he indicts the entire human race... Continue Reading
Sons of Charlatanry
On Peter Bell, host of the upcoming "Sons of Patriarchy"
It was our intention to keep this as an ecclesiastical matter beyond those items that were already public. This was in part to spare Bell’s reputation and grant him opportunity for repentance. However, because Bell has re-emerged as a public figure seeking to teach and instruct churches within the Presbyterian and Reformed world (though no... Continue Reading
Voting For Less Evil
Though Christians are well-represented in America, two problems reduce our influence: (1) we do not represent a majority of the population, and (2) we are not in agreement among ourselves regarding political matters.
As I have been pointing out, we are in a socio-political struggle for the long run. Therefore, I have been urging that we act accordingly. Like it or not, in politics we cannot expect overnight success through one particular election or by means of a “perfect” candidate. To continually vote for the “perfect” candidate when... Unduly Influenced By Celebrity Culture?
A person I know expressed his personal devastation about a popular preacher, whom he had never met, falling into sin; he acted as though he was his personal pastor.
Christian people should be careful not to be too influenced by the celebrity culture of our age when being guided in some way by spiritual leaders who are not their local pastors or elders. Podcast preachers and YouTube teachers are not your pastors. Christians should commit to membership in a local congregation and eagerly sit... Continue Reading
Vanguard Presbytery Votes to Call for First General Assembly
The Presbytery voted unanimously to organize the denomination into three presbyteries and call for a General Assembly to be held some time before the end of August 2025.
The three presbyteries will be regional in nature: Southwest Presbytery will encompass Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, and Missouri. Northern Presbytery will encompass all the congregations north of Tennessee and North Carolina (with the exception of Pathway Presbyterian Church (mission) in Clarksville, TN). The Southeast Presbytery will cover all the states east of the Mississippi... Continue Reading
Christophobe Kamala
Kamala is showing her true and ugly colors.
While Christians might well want candidates that are more moral, more pure, more faultless, and more pristine, they need to be reminded that Jesus is not running in this election – or in any election. In a fallen world we are ALWAYS left with less than ideal choices. But some are clearly better than others.... Continue Reading
Contemporary Considerations
Adam Smith’s thought and influence continue to reach across time and space.
Smith is often unfairly and poorly represented because of partial readings and selective and hasty interpretations driving agenda-promoting claims. Unbridled, no-nonsense capitalism, for example, is often advanced in the discourse of political economy and imbued with the vested authority of the Smithian imprimatur. In promotion of such unbounded capitalism, the most egregious abuses of Smith... Continue Reading
