Denise Sproul, 46 year old wife of R. C. Sproul, Jr. succumbs to cancer

After a long battle with cancer, the wife of R. C. Sproul, Jr. and mother of eight children, died on Sunday morning, December 18, in Sanford, Florida. Denise was the daughter in law of the well- known writer, teacher, and pastor R. C. Sproul, founder of Ligonier Ministries.

Denise was born in York, PA but moved to the Bradenton area of Florida where she was raised. She attended Florida State University and taught high school English in Bradenton before moving to Orangewood Christian School, sponsored by the Orangewood PCA church in Orlando. There she met and married R. C. Junior and she became a full time wife and mother. She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Sanford, Florida, an independent congregation pastored by R. C. Senior.

Surviving Denise are her husband and eight children, as well as parents Joseph and Betty Lou Rocklein; her brother Joseph (Jill), and a sister, Susan who is married to PCA Teaching Elder Steven Warhurst who serves as Associate Pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Kingsport, Tennessee.

The Denise Sproul Memorial Scholarship Fund has been set up at Reformation Bible College in Sanford, where R. C. Junior serves on the faculty as Associate Professor of Philosophy and Apologetics and the family suggests memorial donations be directed there.

Viewing will be Tuesday, December 20, from 2:00 to 4:00PM and from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Sanford/Lake Mary. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at 11:00AM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Sanford. An online guestbook has been set up here
